Canon Precision Inc. is located in Hirosaki, an inland city that lies in the southern part of the Tsugaru plain in Aomori Prefecture. The city of Hirosaki, now with a population of about 170,000, enjoyed prosperity as the castle town of the Lord of Tsugaru, who governed a fiefdom yielding 100,000 koku (one koku is equivalent to 180 liters) of rice.
With the Hirosaki Castle at the top of the list, which is surrounded by the high cherry trees that are known as the most beautiful ones of that kind, many historical sites are seen here and there in the city. Mt. Iwaki, popularly known as Tsugaru Fuji, and Mt. Hakkoda lie to the west and east respectively. Cherry blossoms bloom in spring, and the Neputa Festival is held in summer, giving a beautiful summer night for the people in Tsugaru. Apples grow in autumn, and in winter the Snow Garden Lantern Festival is enjoyed. Hirosaki is the city of history, culture and nature with a great deal of atmosphere. |
