Environmental Activities Environmental Assurance Overview
Canon Precision is the first company in the Tohoku region to be accredited to the Environmental Management Standard*. In accordance with the theme of fostering good relations with the environment, we always endeavor to protect and preserve our environment.
*The British Environmental Management Standard BS7750
Canon, keeping with the corporate philosophy Kyosei, places as its foundation, continuously pursuing global environmental and social sustainability, and promotes environmental management. Canon Precision, under Canon’s Environmentally Conscious Management System, introduced several committees, subcommittees and held staff meetings.
Before ISO14001 was officially organized in 1995, Canon Precision succeeded in being certified for the British Environmental Management Standard BS7750, the first in Tohoku region, which was then said to be the most strict environmental stipulations. Later, changing to ISO standards, the advanced activities are welcomed and highly evaluated by the regional society.

Canon Precision challenges the theme, ‘maximization of resource efficiency,’ and to achieve it, we think techniques such as sort recycling and reducing the amount of waste alone are not sufficient to produce high quality products with as little resources as possible. Throughout a product’s lifecycle, in all stages from development/engineering, procurement, production, distribution, usage, disposal and to the reuse stage it is necessary to make every effort to reduce energy and resources and eliminate hazardous substances. In addition, constant reexamination is promoted in technologies during the development, engineering and production process, and in logistics process, a reduction target for CO2 emission is set, and modal shifts and streamlining logistics are used to achieve it. We are also working together closely with our suppliers to promote green procurement.
The twin eco-towers
The twin eco-towers rising in back of Kitawatoku Second Plant uses nighttime electric power and stores cooled water by cold open air. They are a part of the coolant circulation system for air conditioners and equipments and serve to reducing CO2. Further, various activities, such as thorough waste separation contribute to an eco-conscious plant and company.
